Description
Description
Acoustic sealant is a high-strength, permanently flexible acoustic sealant and adhesive. It is specially formulated to seal the edges and around the perimeter of plasterboard walls and ceilings. One standard sealant tube will be enough to seal approximately five soundproofing panels at 1200mm x 1200mm. It’s available in a standard 310ml or large 900ml size (you will require the large applicators to dispense the 900ml tubes).
Benefits
- Strength permanently flexible sealant
- High grab
- Adheres to most surfaces
- Mould resistant
- Non-flammable and fire-rated
- Over paintable
- Easy clean up
Areas for Use
Use this high-strength sealant to form an acoustic barrier by sealing gaps between plasterboard walls, floors and ceilings and applying dry lining.
Limitations
- Damp or humid conditions will significantly extend the cure time
- Do not attempt to abrade when cured
- Do not overpaint until the product has fully cured. Normally this will be 24 hours but maybe 4-5 days in damp, cold or humid conditions
- Do not apply below 5°C
- For overhead boarding applications, always use it in conjunction with mechanical fixings
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean and dust-free. Before application, all loose or flaking surface coatings and old sealant and mastic joints should be removed. Highly porous substrates such as new plaster should first be primed with PVA bond diluted 1:4 with water. Surfaces may be slightly damp but not wet. NOTE: THIS WILL SLOW THE CURE.
Application:
This dual-action sealant and adhesive are easy to apply yourself. When using a 310ml tube, cut the cartridge tip, taking care not to damage the thread. Apply nozzle and cut cleanly at an angle of 45°.
For 900ml tubes, you’ll need to fit the cartridge into a jumbo sealant gun. Cut the nozzle to the required length and puncture the inner membrane seal before applying.
Use as a sealant:
Always cut the nozzle to size slightly larger than the gap to be sealed. Apply to the gap, slightly overfilling and finish smooth with a caulking tool or filler knife.
Clean up any excess with a damp cloth within 30 minutes of application.

This sealant has been tested to the following Specifications:
